Capital Highways accepts its environmental responsibilities and recognises its obligations to contribute to the resolution of global and local environmental issues by reducing its environmental impacts and by taking a leading role in promoting environmental good practice.
Capital Highways endeavors to comply with the following in all aspects of our work;
We comply with all relevant environmental legislation and codes of practice
We continually seek to improve Capital Highways environmental performance in engineering
We quantify and reduce Capital Highways environmental impacts, bearing in mind the whole life cycles of energy and material supplies in highway engineering
We integrate environmental concerns into all planning and design decisions, maintenance and management of Capital Highways estate including sustainable development principles where possible;
We continuously improve staff environmental awareness and understanding
We actively encourage and facilitate research on environmental sustainability
Where possible, we seek to influence other organisations that the Company becomes involved with to improve their environmental performance
We involve staff in the development and delivery of the Environmental Management Programme
Where possible, we provide opportunities for practical involvement by staff in environmental issues
The effectiveness, of our environmental policies, are monitored by evaluating the company's environmental performance and publishing the results to all staff, thereby encouraging efforts to comply with the Environmental Policy.
